Environmental Policy Statement

Revised April 2016

WaspKill UK is a Pest Control Business serving both individuals and businesses in the United Kingdom.

WaspKill UK operates an Environmental Management System (EMS) to assure itself of its conformance with this stated Environmental Policy and to provide a framework for setting and reviewing environmental objectives.

It is the policy of WaspKill UK to establish, maintain and improve an effective Environmental Management System that meets or exceeds the requirements of ISO 14001.

As part of the aims of WaspKill UK we are committed to reducing the direct environmental impacts of our operations. We conduct our own activities and operations to reflect best environmental practice and have implemented an environmental management system to pursue sustainability, to work within current and future legal requirements and regulations and the prevention of pollution.

We will review our operations regularly to follow a path of continual improvement in our environmental performance.

Service Delivery - As a specialist in Pest Control & Environmental Control we routinely advise clients on efficient and sustainable use of water, energy and other raw materials with respect to their operations and the full life-cycle of their products, together with their responsibilities with regard to preventing pollution and compliance with all areas of environmental legislation.

All sub-contractors are required to minimise their impact on the environment and to clean up and tidy any site on completion. For example, bio-degradable cleaning agents are specified where feasible and all hazardous materials are handled and disposed of appropriately.

WaspKill UK and our sub-contractors comply with all relevant environmental legislation in undertaking our work and are required to obtain appropriate consents or licences from the Environment Agency or other relevant bodies.

Transport - Use of non-car transport is encouraged, with many of our staff using alternatives such as walking, cycling and public transport for travelling to work. Public transport is encouraged for off-site travel where feasible except where out of hours services are delivered. Visitors are routinely made aware of public transport links. Where car transport is necessary, staff are encouraged to share and choose fuel-efficient vehicles.

Energy use - The use of energy for lighting and heating is regularly audited. We have a policy of switching off all lights and electronic equipment when not in use, and particularly at evenings and weekends - including computers, printers and photocopiers. All heating is thermostatically controlled and set to switch off at non-peak times.

Communications/paper use - The majority of non-telephone communication is via e-mail. All internal memos and messages are issued electronically. Staff are encouraged to minimise printing off hard copies, and printing in duplex where possible. These policies reduce the use of paper and of post-related transport.

Recycling - All waste paper, old magazines and printer toner cartridges are sent for recycling. Metal cans, plastic bottles and used batteries are also collected for recycling.

Suppliers - Wherever possible supplies and materials are sourced locally to minimise transport impacts and support the local economy.

WaspKill UK measures its carbon footprint and, following actions to reduce this to a minimum, offsets any remaining footprint through the Converging World carbon offset programme.

Individual responsibility - Environmental protection and waste minimisation is the responsibility of every employee.

The very nature of activities undertaken by WaspKill UK are based around a complex variety of environments. WaspKill UK places particular emphasis on minimising its waste and wherever possible this waste will be recycled.

WaspKill UK is firmly committed to protecting the global environment by the control of its office environment and in the use of materials and utilities over which it has control or influence.

WaspKill UK will reduce its impact on the environment by employing dedicated personnel with appropriate experience and training and by ensuring that all its activities meet its environmental requirement. The Environmental Manual explains the adopted policies and procedures for minimising its impacts on the environment. Environmental objectives are regularly established, published, monitored and reviewed.

This Environmental Management System is under the control of the CEO. The CEO has the authority to implement and maintain the system and change any procedures, if necessary, to maintain and improve the WaspKill UK policy of protecting the environment that it can control.

The Management and staff are fully committed to the maintenance, review and improvement of the Businesses Environmental Management System.

This policy statement is available on the WaspKill UK website.

Issued and approved by the CEO.
